Effective at -25°F
Groundskeepers BestGroundskeepers Best contains a blend of sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium magnesium acetate (CMA). This combination helps to break up ice and melt it faster than traditional rock salt. It's effective in temperatures as low as -25°F and is color-coated for better visibility. Available in 50 lb. bags, it's a reliable choice for keeping sidewalks, driveways, and other surfaces ice-free during the winter.
Exothermic Reaction for Fast Melting
Calcium CholorideCalcium Chloride works well in very low temperatures, often effective down to -25°F (-32°C). It melts ice quickly by lowering the freezing point of water. When calcium chloride dissolves in water, it releases heat in an exothermic reaction, which helps to melt ice faster. It attracts moisture from the air, which helps it to create a brine solution that melts ice more efficiently. Available in 50 lb bags.
Enhanced with Magnesium Chloride
Hot MeltHot Melt is specially formulated so every sodium crystal is enhanced with magnesium chloride. It melts ice quicker at lower temperatures and has a residual action so it works longer than other deicers. Hot Melt is color coated to provide higher visibility and coverage. Available in 50 lb. Bags.
Safer for Concrete, Plants, and Pets
Mag PelletsMag pellets, also known as magnesium chloride pellets, are an effective ice treatment solution. They work quickly to melt ice and snow at temperatures as low as -13°F (-25°C). Mag pellets are less corrosive and less toxic than traditional ice melters like rock salt and calcium chloride, making them safer for concrete, plants, pets, and the environment. They leave no residue and start working immediately upon application.
Eco-Friendly and Effective
Mag FlakesMag-Flakes are the eco-friendly solution for winter ice treatment. Simply sprinkle a thin layer of Mag-Flakes on sidewalks and driveways before and after snowstorms to prevent and melt ice effectively. Reapply as needed during extreme cold to maintain clear, safe surfaces.
Effective in Moderate Cold
Rock SaltRock salt (sodium chloride) typically takes 15-20 minutes to start melting ice, but it can take longer depending on the temperature and ice thickness. It works best in temperatures above 15°F (-9°C). Below this temperature, its effectiveness decreases significantly, and it may not work at all in extremely cold conditions. We carry Rock Salt Ron’s Premium Halite in 50 lb bags. It works in all spreaders to melt ice and snow.
Effective Traction and Melting Combination
Bulk Sand & Salt MixUsing a sand and salt mixture for ice treatment can be very effective in areas with moderate winter temperatures and light snowfall. Rock salt (sodium chloride) lowers the freezing point of water, helping to melt ice and snow. Sand provides traction on slippery surfaces. By combining the two, you get the benefits of both: melting the ice and improving traction.
